Purple Christmas Trees

For many years
I stayed at home
It’s there I lived
Where I have grown

My family close
My people near
All I have learned
Is what I hear

When Christmas came
Each year to me
Daddy put up
Our purple tree

I never questioned
Never asked
I knew this tree
From Christmas past

A purple tree
Is what I see
I only know
What I have been shown

Then I met you
You showed to me
The most unusual Christmas tree
It took some time

For me to see
A different way’
New shades of green
So please be patient

Do not be mean
The purple tree
Is all I have seen?
